Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This is a plain-language summary of how Embertree handles your data. A full, lawyer-reviewed Privacy Policy will replace this page before public launch.

What we store

The people, relationships, stories, photos, and voice notes you add to your family workspace, plus your account details (name, email) and basic security logs.

How it's protected

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256) using a per-family key. This is strong encryption, but not end-to-end encryption: our servers can technically decrypt family data so we can offer features like voice transcription. We never sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train third-party AI.

Where it's stored

By default your data is stored in Canada (Montréal region). Additional regions, including the EU, are planned.

Your rights

You can access and export your contributions, correct them, and delete your account or workspace at any time from settings. Deleted data is purged from primary storage within 30 days and from backups within 90 days.
